Torre di Ligny Entrusted to Pro Loco Trapani Centro

The Municipal Council of Trapani has approved a resolution initiating a new management organization for the Torre di Ligny, entrusting the structure on a temporary free loan basis to Pro Loco Trapani Centro APS.

The measure, approved by the Council on May 26, stems from the desire to improve the tourist and cultural experience of one of the city’s main landmarks. The Municipal Administration has highlighted the issues that emerged in recent years’ management and the need to ensure extended opening hours and dedicated services for visitors.

The assignment will initially have an experimental character for six months, with the possibility of renewal. Pro Loco Trapani Centro will be entrusted with the daily management of the Tower, including visitor reception, ticketing services, tourism promotion, and the organization of cultural events and educational workshops. A tourist information point will also be established within the structure.

As provided by the resolution, the Torre di Ligny will remain open every day, including holidays, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM and from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The revenue from ticket sales will be allocated by Pro Loco to ordinary maintenance, cleaning, and site promotion activities.

Extraordinary maintenance works and those related to the structural safety of the building will remain the responsibility of the Municipal Administration. The objective is to further enhance the Torre di Ligny, transforming it into a permanent cultural reference point, increasingly accessible and available to citizens and tourists.

Among the projects planned by Pro Loco Trapani Centro are the creation of a dedicated space for children and a multimedia area for screening videos, including content dedicated to the Battle of the Egadi Islands. The installation of information panels with QR codes, the creation of a multilingual website, and the purchase of a telescopic binocular to be placed on the Tower’s terrace are also planned.
